Mail Order Zombie: Episode 122

Download Mail Order Zombie: Episode 122 here!

Do you know how hard it is to type shownotes with a thumb Spica wrist brace? It's not easy! When Brother D isn't whining about his thumb hurting, he reviews the 2010 movie The Dead Walk from writer/director Michael Clinkenbeard courtesy of RoadKill Cinema Productions. Eric Morgret, Head of Programming for Crypticon Seattle, stops by for a chat about the upcoming convention, and if you pay close enough attention, you'll get to hear about Mail Order Zombie's planned presence at Crypticon as well! Okay, you don't have to pay THAT much attention - Miss Bren and Brother D talk about it in this week's Feedback Discussion!

Night of the Living . . . Abraham Lincoln?

I use Swap-A-DVD to keep an eye out for zombie movie DVDs that I don't already own or can't get through Netflix, and every once and awhile, I cruise through their listing, doing a search under the Keyword zombie just to see what comes up.

And I saw this:

Now I thought Booth shot Lincoln in the head, which would have wrapped up any potential zombie problem then and there . . .

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 121

Download Mail Order Zombie: Episode 121 here!

This week, Mail Order Zombie takes on The Dead Pit . . . no, not the long-running internet radio show, but the 1989 Brett Leonard-directed zombie movie which was released to DVD by Code Red in 2008. Also on the show this week is John Harrison, a man who's worn several hats in the filmmaking community - director, composer, AD, writer, etc., etc. With Need-a-Nickname Scott still on vacation, two other members of the MOZ Family are stepping in to help with the new sin the Zombie Beat this week, but that doesn't mean we don't hear from Scott this week; he makes an appearance in this week's Feedback Discussion (and supposedly Miss Bren has some 'splainin' to do . . . ).

Download Mail Order Zombie: Episode 120 here!

In this action-packed (action-packed?) episode of Mail Order Zombie, Brother D casts his critical eye (critical eye?) at the Jim O’Rear written- and directed-zombie movie Scream Farm. Dr. J teaches the MOZ Family a valuable lesson in a new installment of Dr. J’s Med of the Dead (special thanks to KK from Family Movie Night for her assistance this time around!). Emails and voicemails anchor the show, and Miss Bren drops in to keep Brother D and Dr. J in line (in line?).

Horror Double Feature - 'Pulse" & 'Sick Nurses'

To commemorate the release of this Horror Double Feature which includes the movies and Pulse and Sick Nurses (Magnolia Home Entertainment), Mail Order Zombie has 2 copies of this set to give away! To enter, email your name and address to MailOrderZombie@gmail.com with the subject heading HORROR DOUBLE FEATURE, and you'll be entered into a drawing which will take place on a future episode of Mail Order Zombie! The deadline is May 19, 2010.

About the movies:

Pulse (Kairo): Before The Grudge, before Dark Water, there was Pulse, one of the scariest films ever made from the master of Japanese horror, Kiyoshi Kurosawa. A group of young friends is rocked by the sudden suicide of one of their own. When his ghostly image appears on their computer screens, something far more horrifying is unleashed. The terror mounts as more deaths and disappearances occur. Kurosawa’s Pulse is a psychologically unsettling tale, which effects will endure long after the chills have subsided.

Sick Nurses: In a neglected hospital, seven young nurses and a respected doctor have been selling body parts of dead patients on the black market. When one of the nurses falls in love with the doctor, she urges them all to get out of the scam. Threatening to go to the police, she is viciously murdered and dies uttering a vengeful curse. Seven days later her tormented soul, longing to find its love, returns. Preying on each of the women’s obsessions and weaknesses, she exacts her horrifying revenge.
