The final 2010 episode of Mail Order Zombie, and Brother D gets . . . Mutated? Mutant'ed? Frenched? In Episode 153, he runs a Mutant double feature and reviews the 1984 movie Mutant (dir. John Cardos) and the 2009 film Mutants (dir. David Morlet). Before getting hit with the double dose of mutation, he reviews the short zombie movie Not Even Death (dir. Monica Winter Vigil). Also in the episode, an announcement is made about the 3rd Annual Mail Order Zombie Dead Letter Awards and if you listen carefully, you'll get to hear where D will be for at least part of New Year's Day. The classic Romero film Day of the Dead is the topic dejour of Episode 150 of Mail Order Zombie (as is Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs)! Miss Bren finally sat down to watch the third film in the ...Dead franchise (it's the fourth ...Dead film she's watched, fifth if you count Shaun..., but that's not really a Romero film so nevermind!), and she joins Brother D to discuss the movie. Brother D resurrects the review he produced of the film's soundtrack album (from way back in Episode 53), and Need-a-Nickname Scott - when he's not dishing the news in the Zombie Beat - takes a look at the original screenplay for the film. A few friends of the show and Mail Order Zombie Family Members also call in their thoughts on the film. And because Brother D both called Miss Bren's bluff and had his own bluff called, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs also gets the Mail Order Zombie treatment (and the Family Movie Night podcast helped out with that!). In this week's episode, Brother D reviews the movies Cupcake: A Zombie Lesbian Musical from director Rebecca Thomson and Armageddon of the Dead from director Damon Crump. For Rise of the Dead Reich, he takes a look at the 1943 film Revenge of the Zombies from director Steve Sekely. The Blu-ray 3D will flood veins with adrenaline and kick viewers into survival mode in 1080p high definition 3D, optimized for the latest 3D playback devices and eyewear, but also including a backwards-compatible 2D version of the film that plays on all existing Blu-ray players. For those who prefer their zombies safely in two dimensions, Resident Evil: Afterlife will also be offered on 2D Blu-ray and DVD the same day.

Based on one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, Resident Evil: Afterlife opens with Alice (Milla Jovovich, Resident Evil, The Fifth Element) on a lonely and dangerous hunt for survivors in a decimated world crawling with the Undead. Brother D reviews the 2010 LA Beats Entertainment release Zombies Unleashed, and while he was watching that DVD, MOZ Cub Reporter Need-a-Nickname Scott was partying it up at Franklin, Indiana's B-Movie Celebration last weekend, where he interviewed Bo Buckley, the writer of the new zombie movie Death of the Dead. When Scott got home from the celebration, he and his wife Tracey reviewed the book Night of the Living Trekkies by Kevin D. Anderson and Sam Stall (and if you listen to the review real close, you'll hear about a contest in which you can win your own copy of the book!). In the meantime, Brother D inteviewed director Justin Timpane, the man behind Ninjas Vs. Zombies and the upcoming Ninjas Vs. Vampires. Brother D and Miss Bren have said repeatedly that one of their favorite things to come from producing Mail Order Zombie is the Mail Order Zombie Family, and Episode 137 features contributions from several members of the MOZ Family. ZomBart calls in from the 2010 Dragon*Con (and he's planning on covering Monster-Mania in mid-September, so if any other mOZ Family Members are attending that con, post about it in the message boards and see if you can meet up!). The crew from the ThirtyNothings provide this week's movie review when they take on Peter Jackson's 1992 film Dead Alive. On a non-zombie movie note, Family Member Silent Death calls in a review of The Last Exorcism. Regular contributor and Voice of the Family Need-a-Nickname Scott is still live at the bunker here at MOZ Central, and his wife Tracey hasn't gotten sick of the zombie lovin' lifestyle yet, so they join Brother D and Miss Bren in talking about their experience at The BoneBat Comedy of Horrors Film Festival and PAX 2010. BD Live 'Survival of the Dead' commentary track from Magnolia

Magnolia Home Entertainment released its very first feature commentary earmarked and created exclusively for BD Live today as a part of their latest release Survival of the Dead, now available on Blu-ray and DVD. Longtime friends George A. Romero and Steve ‘Uncle Creepy’ Barton chat about the film, the horror genre, and life in general. A comfortable and hilarious commentary, the feature plays out like two friends catching up and also represents a side of the George that few fans have ever seen.

Survival of the Dead is the newest film from George A. Romero and picks up where Diary of the Dead leaves off – in a nightmarish world where humans are the minority and zombies rule. Off the coast of Delaware sits cozy Plum Island where two families have been feuding for generations. The O’Flynns approach the zombie plague with a shoot-to-kill attitude. The Muldoons insist that the zombies should be quarantined and kept “alive” in hopes that a solution will someday be found. What ensues is a gory and desperate struggle for survival and the search for the answer to the question: Can the living ever exist in peace with the dead?

The two-disc Survival of the Dead Ultimate Undead Edition DVD and single disc Blu-ray are bursting with bonus features that take viewers deeper into the world of the living dead, including the “Walking After Midnight” documentary, interviews with Romero, an audio commentary and much more and will be available for the suggested retail price of $29.98 each. The film also will be available as a standard edition DVD for the suggested retail price of $26.98.

Accessible through the Blu-ray format only, the feature commentary is available via download through BD Live.

For the final week of The Far East Feast, Brother D reviews the 2005 movie 東京ゾンビ, also known as Tokyo Zombie from director Sakichi Sato, and he’s not doing it alone. In addition to spilling the latest zombie news, Need-a-Nickname Scott joins him for a discussion of this film. Brother D will also take a look at the recent release Zombie Women of Satan from directors Steve O’Brien and Warren Speed. ZomBart attended the recent Monster Mania convention last weekend, and calls in with a running commentary on the event, and Steve and Gord from the BoneBat Show stop by to talk about their upcoming event, the BoneBat Comedy of Horrors Film Fest. Miss Bren – who’s still allowed on the show despite her encouraging people to sing the Bananapants song(!) – joins Brother D for the Feedback Discussion, which fortunately includes more than just the Bananapants songs. 'The Return of the Living Dead' coming to Blu-ray

On September 14th, Twentieth Century Fox and MGM Home Entertainment is releasing The Return of the Living Dead as a new Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the cemetery, those brain-eating zombies are back and hungry for more tasty mortals. A fiendish mix of outrageous humor and heart-stopping terror, The Return of the Living Dead is a “veritable smorgasbord of fun” (LA Herald-Examiner) filled with skin-crawling jolts, eye-popping visuals and relentless surprise. On his first day on the job at an army surplus store, poor Freddy unwittingly releases nerve gas from a secret U.S. military canister, unleashing an unbelievable terror. The gas re-animates a corps of corpses, who arise from their graves with a ravenous hunger for human brains. Luckily for those carnivorous cadavers, there is a group of partying teens nearby, just waiting to be eaten!

AMC TV has released the trailer for The Walking Dead . . .

The Walking Dead will premiere on Halloween night, Sun., Oct. 31 at 10PM 9C. The Sunday night series will debut with a 90-minute premiere episode. Subsequent episodes will be one-hour long presentations.

This is the same trailer that played at 2010 Comic-Con San Diego.

The second song in this trailer is "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" from the The Walker Brothers. Does anyone know the name of the first song?
